Three years after the earthquake: IFRC hands over 4,200 homes in Türkiye and Syria

The Red Crescent-led shelter programme has moved from tented camps to permanent housing across five affected provinces.

The Turkish Red Crescent, supported by IFRC, has now completed and handed over 4,200 permanent homes in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Malatya, and Gaziantep — three years after the February 2023 earthquakes that killed over 55,000 people.

In northwest Syria, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent's parallel programme has delivered 1,800 shelter units and repaired 3,500 damaged homes.

Cash-for-rent assistance continues for another 27,000 families still displaced.
