WFP reaches 9.5 million people in Yemen โ€” but funding gap grows

The World Food Programme's monthly ration in Yemen was cut by 40% in April. Full rations resume this month for the most food-insecure districts.

WFP is now delivering full monthly food rations to 9.5 million Yemenis, prioritising IPC Phase 4 districts (emergency levels of food insecurity). Rations had been halved earlier in the year because of a pipeline funding gap.

Each household package contains wheat flour, pulses, vegetable oil, sugar and salt โ€” designed to cover roughly 70% of daily caloric needs for a family of six.

WFP's 2026 Yemen operation is 43% funded. The agency estimates a further USD 1.4 billion is needed to maintain assistance through year-end.
